Well, I apologize for disappearing. My wife had our baby a couple weeks before we expected (not premature, just a little early). I didn't get to finish the last week of the treatment.
With a newborn in the house, I haven't had time to continue the treatments. This method is fairly time-intensive and I just haven't had that commodity.
I've tried heat-based contraception (HBC) once but didn't have a proper fertility test to confirm whether or not it works.
ReplyDeleteI used a home test kit that changes colour - it said I was still fertile after three weeks but I don't think it accounts for sperm motility (or the lack thereof), just detects whether or not they're present.
I used a large old teapot so that I could add more hot water from the kettle through the teapot spout every time the temperature dipped. I maintained between 41-47 degrees Celsius (106-116 Fahrenheit) for at least 45 min for three weeks.
I too had a little yellow duck on my bath thermometer! I found that every time I added more hot water to increase the temperature from about 41 C to 47 C the heat was almost unbearable, but very quickly became comfortable and even enjoyable. I've decided that the best method would keep the temperature a very constant hot.
A few weeks later I got a new girlfriend and she went on the pill so I didn't bother to repeat HBC. Now we've separated (due to 5000 miles between us) and I'm single again, so I think I'll give HBC another go before I have sex again. But I'll invest in a decent microscope this time, and get a professional fertility test as well.
I've bought a "Clean & Easy" pot wax heater but not sure how I can use it as the instructions say that I'm not to heat liquid directly in the heating bowl (you're supposed to put a pot of wax in there). The Stainless Steel Smart Mug with Temperature Control also looks good.
I have my reservations about dipping my balls in water that's heated electrically by a device that's plugged into a 240V mains electricity wall socket!
